Theme of the Month – December

During the winter months, the amount of calls we receive regarding water damage skyrockets. During the month of December, we are focusing on this, and giving tips to help our readers prevent this from happening to their business or home!

Here are a few preventative measures to take to help against your pipes from getting too cold:

  • Keep the Thermostat Consistent and Leave the Heat Above 55° F
  • Open Cabinet Doors
  • Keep Your Garage Doors Closed
  • Drip Faucets
  • Open Interior Doors

If you were not able to avoid your pipes freezing, here are the first steps to take to avoid damage to your home:

First, find the water main shut-off valve. Second, turn on the faucet so thawing water can flow freely and begin to relieve pressure. Third, slowly warm the pipes with a space heater or hairdryer to look for cracks. Fourth, look for any type of water damage caused by small leaks. Last, give us a call right away if you find any damage before it gets worse. We can make it “Like it never even happened.”
