Storm Alerts - Warning vs. Watch

8/13/2019 (Permalink)

We are currently in the middle of Hurricane Season for the United States. This season is June-November, and is the time of the year when we can expect to see bad weather around the gulf and the coast. While Kentucky is an inland state, we still experience backlash when these storms come along. We have learned to expect a lot of rain, and severe thunderstorms. When these storms are close to setting in, we see a lot of “Storm Warnings” or “Storm Watches.” But do you really know the difference between the two?

Warning: A bad storm is in the area and is moving quickly. Seek shelter and be careful.

Watch: There is a great chance that a storm is going to move in quickly. Watch the weather and be able to take shelter quickly.
